Puerto Vallarta Taco Lady

April 29, 2014

One of my favorite things to do when I travel is to mingle with the locals. Eat where they eat, shop where they shop, and most important, I enjoy getting to know the people who live there. I like hearing people’s stories and how their path in life was carved, bringing them to where they are today. Oprah Winfrey, one of my favorite people in this world, once said, “Everyone has a story”

Corazon de Niña - Girls Orphanage

March 21, 2014
When we first moved to Puerto Vallarta we had no idea that we would soon find ourselves running a charity that helped so many causes around town.  One night as we dined in one of our favorite restaurants to people watch, La Piazzetta, we were introduced to a table of 13 young girls who were having a pizza night at the restaurant.  As it turns out Mimmo, the owner, on occasion would sponsor a pizza night for this group of young girls who lived in an orphanage called Corazon de Niña, run by Melissa Canez.  As we spoke with Melissa we were drawn in to her passion for helping these girls who had previously lived in another state run orphanage that was shut down for misapropriation of funds.  At the time, Melissa volunteered at the orphanage and when she heard that the girls were going to be spread out across various orphanages she felt compelled to keep the only family they knew together.  She brought them into her own 2 bedroom home having been given false promises by the state to assist in their living expenses.  Before she knew it, she was on her own raising 13 young girls barely scraping by, living day by day trying to just put food on the table with dreams of giving these girls a chance at a better life.

Gay Home Exchange in Amsterdam Followed by an Atlantis Cruise!

December 20, 2013

Being the gipsy that I am, there is nothing better than a cruise, especially when it’s combined with a gay home exchange. What I love about a cruise is that you get to visit a variety of places without having to unpack. It’s like a mobile home on the water, and if you’re on a gay cruise, even better because you’re in a caravan with over 2,000 other queens that bring a whole other element to the experience. For those of you that are afraid that it might be gay overload or some circuit party on the seas, I assure you that there is something for everyone on the ship. There are plenty of places to escape to if your looking for some peace and quiet, but if your looking to kick up your heels and have a gay ole time, there is plenty of that to be had, and Atlantis puts on a great cruise! We enjoy them so much that this is our sixth cruise with Atlantis, so now it’s pretty much the itinerary that grabs our attention. We look for destinations that we have yet to visit and this years Amsterdam to Barcelona Cruise visited the ports of Bordeaux France, Bilbao Spain, Lisbon Portugal, Cadiz Spain, and Ibiza. There was no way we were going to miss out on this cruise.

Never a Dull Moment in Puerto Vallarta!

December 05, 2013
Who would think that a small village in Mexico could offer so much excitment!  When we first bought a home down here almost four years ago, I was worried that we might get bored in such a small town.  I can honestly say, it is far from any chance of boredom and there is way more to do here than one could possibly fit into a two week vacation.  There is so much to do, that I have yet to experience it all so I am periodically going to update this page with more fun filled options as I encounter them.

Can Halloween Get Any Campier?

December 03, 2013

One can argue that Halloween is probably the gayest holiday there is.  It's the one day you can dress in drag or what ever you like and no one bats an eye.  As a matter of fact, the more outlandish the better!  So us gays like to celebrate it all week.  Considering we just traded in our piece of shit Fleetwood Bounder for a new Fleetwood Discovery, we are eager to break it in and boy does it BREAK!  Now in Texas we have several gay campgrounds so I decide we are going to have a campy Halloween and luckily 2 of the campgounds are celebrating it on different weekends.

Gay Travel to Cuba

August 07, 2013

Why does the forbidden fruit always taste sweeter?  While the rest of the world freely travels to Cuba, the one country that boasts itself on being the land of the free (USA), forbids it.  But, where there is a will, there is a way, and boy did I find it!  While you can't fly from the United States to Cuba, you can detour through Mexico.  There are flights daily departing Cancun and Mexico City, and not to worry, they don't stamp your passport.  As for booking your flights, you can use a Canadian or Mexican travel agency.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert in the USA!

August 03, 2013

When it comes to Gay cult films, "To Wong Fu" and "The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert" are two of my favorites!  The thought of driving across America and hitting every po-dunk town along the way with a gaggle of gays just seemed like loads of fun and had been on my bucket list of things to do until this past summer when we purchased a 36 foot Fleetwood Bounder RV.   Considering how difficult it is to organize a group of queens to do anything, a fifty day road trip was obviously out of the question so I settled for my partner in crime, my fag hag mother, and our six dogs, all in one RV!

I knew we were in for an adventure, but I’m not sure anything could have prepared us for what was yet to come, everything from RV breakdowns in our brand new 2013 Fleetwood Bounder, to unexpected surprises.  Our Adventure started in Houston Texas and we set out west for California and back through the Grand Canyon.  My goal was to hit every gay campground and destination along the way and I knew that just writing about it was not going to be enough to communicate the experience, so opted to video blog the adventure.
